Hip

Most hip pain is due to wear-and-tear or a hip injury.

Hip injuries are frequently caused by falls, overuse, and direct trauma from sports and motor vehicle collisions.

Common Hip Injuries:

  • Sprain of ligaments
  • Strain of muscles and tendons
  • Bursitis
  • Tendinitis
  • Labral tears
  • Bone Fractures

Symptoms include:

  • Pain in the hip, groin, and/or thigh
  • Pain while standing, walking, crossing your legs, squatting, and/or climbing stairs
  • Soreness
  • Inflammation
  • Tenderness
  • Stiffness
  • Weakness
  • Locking sensation
  • Discomfort while sleeping on the affected side

Treatment of hip injuries includes conservative care with medication and physical therapy to reduce inflammation, pain, and stiffness, and gentle exercises to maintain and improve mobility and strength.

In cases of more extensive hip injury where conservative treatment fails, our patients are evaluated by a board-certified orthopedic surgeon to determine if further progress can be made with interventions such as injections and surgery.

Patients who undergo surgical procedures then undergo post-surgical physical rehabilitation under our supervision to maximize the range of motion, strength, and function of their hip.

Other Lower Extremities Injuries

  • Foot/Ankle

Most common ankle/foot pain is due to strain and sprain of the muscles, tendons, and ligaments surrounding the ankle joint.

  • Knee

Most common causes of knee pain is due to trauma, overuse, and arthritis. Seeking immediate treatment is essential as chronic pain could affect the other weight-bearing joints such as hip or lower back.

  • Back/Lumbar

Approximately 80% of adults experience a back injury in their lifetime.
